Where to print A0 sewing patterns, and what it costs
You bought a PDF sewing pattern and it came with an A0 or copy shop file. That file saves you from taping dozens of letter pages together, but it needs a printer that takes paper three feet wide. If you searched for A0 printing near me, here is where to print it, what it costs at Staples, FedEx Office and the online pattern printers, what to ask for at the counter, and how to skip the print altogether.
What an A0 sewing pattern file is
A0 is a paper size: 841 x 1189 mm, or 33.1 x 46.8 inches. Pattern designers use it because a whole pattern fits on one or a few big sheets. Some designers make a copy shop file 36 inches wide instead, sometimes longer than 48 inches, to match US print rolls.
US print shops print on 36 inch wide rolls, so the size to order is 36 x 48. An A0 page fits on it with a margin to spare. Before you order, open the PDF and check two things: the page size and the number of pages. You pay per sheet, so the page count is your price.

What one pattern costs, worked out
Say your pattern file is 3 A0 sheets. That is an example, not a typical count, so use your own page count. Before tax, from the prices above:
- Staples: 3 x $9.00, from $27.00 in black and white.
- FedEx Office: 3 x $9.53 is $28.59 in black and white. In full color, 3 x $71.88 is $215.64.
- PDF Plotting: 3 x $3.33 is $9.99, which is under the $12 minimum, so $12.00, plus up to $12.99 for UPS Ground.
- Pattern Printing Company: 3 x $2.88 is $8.64, plus shipping shown at checkout.
- Gather Here: $5.00 + 2 x $2.50 is $10.00, picked up in Cambridge.
The online printers are cheapest per sheet and include color, but you wait for the mail. The office stores cost more per sheet, but you pick the print up near you, and Staples lists same day options. Ordering several patterns at once spreads one shipping fee across all of them.
A0 printing at Staples
Staples does not sell a product called A0. Order Blueprints in 36 x 48, online or at the print counter. Staples lists the 36 x 48 size starting at $9.00, and its page says same day options are available. It prints on blueprint bond paper, in black and white or color. The color price is not listed online, so ask in store. Upload the A0 PDF as it is and ask for 100% scale.
FedEx Office
FedEx Office names sewing patterns as a use for its blueprint prints. They come on 20 lb white bond paper in 18 x 24, 24 x 36 and 36 x 48, in black and white or full color, and custom sizes may be possible in store. The online estimate for one 36 x 48 sheet was $9.53 in black and white and $71.88 in full color. FedEx says in-store prices may differ from online, so if color matters, ask before you print.
Online pattern printers
A few companies print nothing but sewing patterns. You upload the PDF, they print it at 100% and mail it to you.
- PDF Plotting prints on 20 lb paper or a translucent soft touch paper, ships rolled from Virginia, and ships the same day for orders in by noon Eastern on weekdays. Color costs the same as black and white.
- Pattern Printing Company prints on a lightweight semi-transparent paper, folds the sheets to fit a letter envelope, and ships by USPS. It prints whatever colors your file has.
Print sewing patterns near me
Some fabric shops print patterns at the counter. Gather Here in Cambridge, Massachusetts is one, with prices on its website. Call your local fabric or quilt shop and ask. A search for large format printing near me also turns up blueprint shops, sign shops and university print centers. Most can print 36 x 48, but few publish a price for it, so ask in store and tell them it is a sewing pattern that must print at 100%.
What to ask for when you print an A0 sewing pattern
- 100% scale, or actual size. Never fit to page. A shrunk pattern is a garment that does not fit.
- Measure the test square on the print with a ruler before you leave the counter, or before you cut.
- 36 x 48 paper, or the full length of the file if it is a long 36 inch wide copy shop page.
- Black and white or color. Many multi size patterns tell the sizes apart by color. In black and white they can look the same. If the PDF has a layer for each size, turn off the sizes you do not need before you send it. See how to select your size.
- Only the pattern pages. Print the instructions at home on letter paper.
Only have a home printer? Adobe Acrobat's Poster option can tile one big page across letter sheets, the way you would print a PDF as a poster. That brings the scissors and tape back.
Or skip printing
There is one more option. Sttchr is an iPhone and iPad app that opens your A0 file and shows the pattern pieces on your fabric at true size, through the camera. You chalk the lines you see straight onto the cloth, then cut. An A0 file is one page, so there is nothing to tile and nothing to print, ship or pick up. If the file has a projector grid on it, Sttchr Pro can remove it so only your pattern lines stay.
The app is free to download. Your first 2 uploads of your own PDFs are free, and patterns you buy in the Sttchr shop are always free to trace. Sttchr Pro gives you unlimited uploads. See how to use PDF sewing patterns without printing, which pattern files are supported and how to upload your own pattern.
Printing is still the right call for some jobs, like slashing and spreading a piece for a fit change, or keeping a paper block you trace around for years.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to print an A0 sewing pattern?
From $2.50 to $9.53 a sheet in black and white, when we checked on October 24, 2026. The online pattern printers charged $2.88 and $3.33 per A0 sheet with color included, plus shipping. Gather Here charged $5.00 for the first page and $2.50 for each one after. Staples listed 36 x 48 starting at $9.00, and FedEx Office estimated $9.53. Full color at FedEx Office was $71.88 a sheet. Prices change, so check before you order.
Can Staples print A0 sewing patterns?
Yes. Order a 36 x 48 blueprint print, which is a little larger than A0, and ask for 100% scale, not fit to page. Staples listed 36 x 48 starting at $9.00 on October 24, 2026. Measure the test square on the print before you cut.
What size do I ask for at a print shop?
A0 is 33.1 x 46.8 inches. US print shops print on 36 inch wide rolls, so ask for 36 x 48 at 100% scale. If the file is a 36 inch wide copy shop file longer than 48 inches, ask them to print it at its full length.
Should I print in black and white or color?
Black and white is much cheaper at FedEx Office, and Staples does not list a color price online. Black and white is fine when every size has its own line style. If the sizes are told apart only by color, print in color or turn off the sizes you do not need first. The online pattern printers and Gather Here charge the same for color.
Can I use an A0 pattern without printing it?
Yes. Sttchr on iPhone or iPad opens the A0 file and shows the pieces on your fabric at true size through the camera, so you chalk the lines straight onto the cloth. The app is free to download, and your first 2 uploads of your own PDFs are free.
